Laboratory Auditing in Support of the National Coastal Condition Assessment for Eastern Research Group, Inc.

ANAMAR was contracted by Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) to perform laboratory audits for EPA’s National Coastal Condition Assessment Program (NCCA).  Specifically, ANAMAR conducted an audit of the quality control and quality assurance at four laboratories analyzing samples for NCCA:  the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene in Madison, Wisconsin; the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons, Maryland; the Virginia Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services in Richmond, Virginia; and the New Hampshire Environmental Water Quality Analysis Laboratory in Durham, New Hampshire.  For each laboratory, ANAMAR was tasked with:

  1. Reviewing each laboratory’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) for compliance with established methodology.
  2. Performing an on-site assessment of laboratory operations, including laboratory equipment, personnel, and general impressions of the laboratory.
  3. Conducting an exit interview addressing any findings with the Quality Assurance Officer and Laboratory Manager.
  4. Providing a written report to ERG indicating all findings of non-compliance with program guidelines.
